A career change that will engage all your structural engineering expertise. This is a position for a senior engineer with a consulting background in the forensic investigations industry, a sector that commands high margins and performs well throughout economic cycles. The role provides exceptional variety and technical intrigue plus excellent career prospects and financial rewards.
Company Profile: An independently owned, forensic investigations consultancy specialising in the built environment. Their case load covers major infrastructure, buildings, and industrial assets. Their workload is national and international, and on behalf of insurers, loss adjusters, lawyers, owner/ operators and corporate clients. They are called upon to investigate the failure of structures above and below ground.
Your Role: This starts with a visual investigation of an affected structure, you will then apply your structural engineering expertise to establish the root cause of the failure, culminating in a report that sets out your findings. You will work closely with clients and play a key role in developing business relationships and provide input on commercial and managerial issues. Your learning and development path will be continuous, and you will be expected to stay updated on industry trends and technical advances.
Training & Support: You will already possess most of the skills required from your career in structural engineering. However, some additional training and support will be provided, especially around how to carry out site investigations and how to present your findings, which will from time to time be used to settle claims and litigation. Moving forward you will be encouraged and helped to gain the skills required to act as an expert witness.
Your Profile: A structural engineer with building structures or civil structures design experience. You should be a chartered civil engineer (MICE) or chartered structural engineer (MIStructE), have a strong technical background with natural curiosity and a talent for thinking laterally. A willingness to embrace a diverse workload that presents an array of new technical challenges. Your engineering knowhow should be backed up by good written and verbal communication skills.
Career Prospects: The position provides a clear route to partnership. You will steadily develop the skills and expertise to enable you to progress and meet their expansion and succession plans.
On offer is the chance of a career with an upper quartile salary, training and progression in a sector in continuous demand.
