My high-profile client are recruiting for an Energy Management Engineer. The role is a Hybrid role which will require the candidate to work on site 2 days a week and 3 days from home, working normal office hours. The role will be for ending in Jan 2024.
Energy Management Engineer (Contractor)
The Function:
The Whole Vehicle Energy Management team is accountable for managing Bentley's product and fleet CO2 and Energy Consumption performance to set targets, throughout the Product Emergence Process (PEP).
The objective of the team is to reduce Bentley's carbon footprint by effectively managing the reduction of product CO2 & by minimising the whole vehicle energy consumption whilst maximising performance.

The Energy Management Engineer role is within our Whole Vehicle Engineering - Energy Management department reporting to the Function Manager and is accountable for providing in-depth technical knowledge and guidance to aid and deliver all CO2, consumption and range prognosis activities to ensure the achievement of business objectives to the defined Product Emergence Process on time and within budget. About the role:
The Energy Management Engineer role is within our Whole Vehicle Engineering - Energy Management department reporting to the Function Manager and is accountable for providing in-depth technical knowledge and guidance to aid and deliver all CO2, consumption and range prognosis activities to ensure the achievement of business objectives to the defined Product Emergence Process on time and within budget. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Delivering CO2, consumption and range prognoses including cross functional alignment and reporting of status at PEP gateways for all key market regions
- Collaboration with engineering functions to identify measures, technical and strategic, to close gaps to target
- Plan and execute vehicle testing and correlation activities including review of test data and evaluation of real word fuel economy and consumption
- Represent the departments goals in project target setting activities and provide technical input into target feasibility studies
- Keeping up to date on emissions and fuel economy legislative standards and provide interpretation for discussion within department and evaluate impact of any changes
- Competitor benchmarking and futuring for CO2, range & consumption target setting
- Logistical tasks such as managing test vehicle updates, test parts procurement and vehicle transportation to test facilities
Required Skills & Expertise:
- Demonstrable knowledge in Hybrid / EV vehicle development
- Thorough understanding of vehicle systems influencing whole vehicle energy consumption and measures for reducing vehicle CO2 and energy consumption
- Practical knowledge in emission testing and good understanding of legislative requirements.
- Development in diagnostic tools such as INCA, AVL Concerto, DiagRA, ODIS-E etc.
- Highly organised with demonstrable self-management, prioritisation and in delivery of complex tasks
- Ability to work within a team - able to work effectively in the internal and cross-functional teams
- Communication, preparation and presenting of board level materials
- Good diagnostic skills and ability to solve complex engineering related problems
- German language proficiency is advantageous
