Working in a small, extremely busy Civill & Structural engineering office in Chester, they are a friendly, dedicated and experienced team delivering high quality projects for their clients. Founded over 40 years ago they have gained vast experience in both domestic and commercial construction throughout the UK, including single and multiple new build projects, conversions, restoration and repair works including that of historic and listed buildings. Detailed works as listed below:

New Build Projects, single and multiple.
Small & Large extensions.
Steel frame buildings.
Architectural certificates and structural advice/reports.
Commercial developments They offer services from preparing the initial design brief with the client through to site supervision and final completion. Throughout all our projects, we work closely with the client to ensure they receive the optimum service and most importantly a flawless finished product.

About the Senior Structural Engineer role

The Senior Structural Engineer will be required to liaise with the client and their in-house team of structural engineers and architects throughout the duration of each individual project to develop and provide a structural design to minimise construction costs where possible and to provide an economical solution.​ You will be responsible for preparing detailed structural drawings and calculations for each individual project. You will also be responsible for the overseeing and management, alongside company Directors, of each individual project, which will include the directing of in-house draftsmen and liaising with Contractors, Clients and Local Authorities throughout the duration of the project.

General Duties

Work closely with Clients and Architects both in-house and external.
Managing of individual projects
Meetings with Clients & contractors both in-house and on-site
Produce sketch details and structural calculations.
Working alongside in-house draftsman to produce CAD drawings
Site inspections (mainly local).
Review and interpret technical/architectural drawings.
Preparing structural reports.
Use of Smart Eng. Software to carry out analysis and design
Good knowledge of British Standards, Eurocodes beneficial however not essential

Skills/Assets Required

Experience in design & detailing throughout the construction industry within the UK, of which design solutions for the following elements Timber, Masonry, Steelwork, and Concrete are essential. Additional requirements:

Minimum Bsc/Beng Hons Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
Associate or Chartered Member of Institute of Structural Engineers (IStructE)
Experience of working within a similar consultancy in the UK.
Full UK driving licence.
Preferred experience working on small to medium construction projects.
AutoCAD experience essential.
Knowledge of road and drainage designs preferable (however not essential).
Ability to manage multiple projects
