Chief Engineer - Energy Transition
Flexible location: The Midlands, Yorkshire or London (all with hybrid working)
Circa £80,000 - £120,000 DOE + corporate benefits
Introduction
Astute are very proudly partnered with an innovative business who're focused on the decarbonisation of the UK road freight sector. They're looking to achieve a rapid roll-out of renewable infrastructure to facilitate the transition to fuelling HGVs via low-carbon and zero-emission fuels. The Chief Engineer will play a major part in the growth and development of the business, taking accountability for the delivery of the engineering side of the projects.
Roles & Responsibilities
Reporting to the CEO you will be responsible for:
Owning and supervising the procurement and delivery of the engineering design and construction of the client's refuelling stations
Taking responsibility as the engineering delivery leader for all station design, preparation, construction, commissioning and operations & maintenance regimes by the company
Proactively conducting site and work visits, being the technical engineering lead in these meetings
Driving the delivery of engineering design, civils and specialist contractor selection and supporting the construction project planning and technical stakeholder management across several developments concurrently
Assisting the Directors in shaping the vision of the business and adding your engineering and leadership expertise to this entrepreneurial environment
Planning, testing, validating and supervising all aspects of technical engineering of the client's refuelling station design - to include electric charging, hydrogen and biomethane / bio-CNG refuelling
Drafting, specifying, reviewing and validating specifications and scopes of work for technical engineering tasks for third party contractors
Managing and delivering specific project schedules, writing and presenting reports when required to both internal and external stakeholders
Staying up to date with innovations to engineering design and delivery, including best practice and performance of a developing 'future fuels' supply chain

Skills & Qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
A relevant engineering degree
10 years relevant experience, where you have covered most of the principal roles and responsibilities as stated above
A demonstrable, successful track record of project delivery on time and on budget
A willingness and passion for developing others
A passion and drive for the energy transition
UK driving licence
