Maryland Environmental Service has an opening for a Survey Technician in the Surveying Section of the Environmental Dredging and Restoration Division at our Headquarters facility in Millersville, MD. The position will primarily assist with field data collection and provide support in performing land and hydrographic surveys, construction stakeout, and other survey related field and office operations and applications. Preferred applicants will have a basic understanding of GPS and conventional survey equipment, be able to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, and be able to assist in compiling data for technical reports, correspondence, or other documents.

 

Estimated Pay Range:

$39,827.51- $47,840.94

Minimum Requirements:

Graduation from a standard high school or GED plus two years of experience in the area of design, construction, engineering, surveying, computerized drafting, environmental services or maintenance.  A Land Surveyor in Training (LSIT), Fundamentals of Land Surveying Certificate (FLS), or a Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Survey, Civil, Environmental, Mechanical or Geotechnical (or other generally recognized field of engineering or survey) from an accredited college or university may be substituted for the two years of required experience.  Certification by the National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS) as a Certified Survey Technician may be substituted for one year of the required experience.

 

Must be able to pass a standard physical exam, be able to lift 50lbs, and have a valid driver’s license with less than 5 points.
