Principal Rail Civil Design Engineer

Location: Birmingham

(Hybrid working 2-3 days a week between the office and home)

Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 basic + Package

The Opportunity: -

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established global engineering consultancy; With a major package of works on HS2 from Birmingham to London, working closely with Network Rail and the UK-based Light rail operators.

The team is growing due to the recent awards and one of the key positions is a Design CRE signed off by Network Rail. It doesn't matter which region you have the Contractor Responsible Engineer status as long as you have had the responsibility before. Coming from a Civil Engineering background you will have had to work in the rail sector before to be able to have the CRE accreditation from Network Rail.

Day-to-day duties will vary but include:

• Working on various packages of works from drainage, embankment subsidence, earthworks, bridges & structures and associated Rail infrastructure.
• Supporting the design team in implementing taking their design on to site, participating in the Interdisciplinary Design Check meetings (IDCs) with other all other discipline CREs to confirm that their design and the construction interfaces are correct.
• Approving all designs and ensuring completion of the acceptance process
• Clearly identify and document the interfaces between all discipline Engineers
• Assessing the competence and the appointment of all design engineers required to work for or on behalf of the organisation.
• Ensure that appointees are competent and able to undertake the workload required and have both understood and accepted their responsibilities.

Qualifications: -

• Minimum of an HNC or HND or Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Previous work in the Rail sector in the UK
• From a Design background so you can gain the Design CRE sign off.
