My client are an award-winning developer, delivering luxury residential accommodation UK wide who currently have a requirement for a Civil Design Engineer to join their Design & Technical team.
Civil Design Engineer Role
As a key member in the Design & Technical team you will work closely with their in-house Land, Planning Architectural and Civil/Structural Engineering teams to deliver complex developments. Working closely with the Technical Director your key accountabilities will include:
" Collaborating with the multi-disciplined design team to steer the evolving designs
" Undertaking feasibility assessments and reporting on the drainage, highways and external works solutions for new site acquisitions.
" Briefing and commissioning for pre-acquisition topographical surveys, drainage surveys and site investigations, (in conjunction with the in-house structural engineer)
" Undertaking detailed road, sewers (to adoptable standards), private drainage and external works designs including liaison with highway and drainage authorities for technical approvals.
" Undertaking S278 highway improvement designs for technical approval and liaise with external consultants for stage 2 & 3 Safety Audit reviews.
" Undertaking civil designs for foul pumping stations and liaise directly with pump specialists to obtain quotations. mechanical drawings and specifications
" Undertaking stormwater detailed design providing onsite storage/retention solutions using a variety of different SUDS techniques
" Undertaking detailed cut/fill analysis and producing earthworks sections and quantities
" Temporary works design
" Have detailed knowledge of section agreements i.e., Section 38, 104, S185 & 278 and liaise with the in-house solicitor for the preparation of the Bonds and Agreements
" Providing tender and construction issue civils drawings to the commercial and construction teams in compliance with the agreed procurement and build programmes.
" Responding to site management and subcontractor RFI's and periodically visiting site for inspections as required.
" Liaising with the 'in house' commercial & construction teams to ensure cost-effective Civils solutions and practical construction sequence.
" Undertaking Civil design reviews of colleague's projects
" Complying with designer's duties under the CDM Regulations
" Mentor and support Junior Technologists to ensure their continual professional development
Civil Design Engineer Skills and experience required:
" Minimum HNC level or ideally BEng (Hons) in Civil / Structural Engineering (or equivalent)
" Minimum of 4 years proven post-qualification experience in Civil Engineering
" Working knowledge using AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit and Causeway Flow Software
" Working knowledge of Water UK Design & Construction Guidance document and Local Authority/County Council Highways standards
" Good knowledge of structural detailing and construction techniques
" A strong technical ability and commercial awareness
" Superb organisational and time management skills
" Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
" Ability to work effectively as part of a team whilst using own initiative to work independently
