A key position has become available to join this global Insurer as Underwriting Manager within their construction and engineering division. In this varied role you will manage a team of Senior Underwriters as well as taking on your own technical underwriting duties alongside involvement in the underwriting strategy.
You will play a key part in developing and raising the brand in the insurance marketplace; ensuring profitable strategic business growth within the construction and engineering division. You will use your experience and reputation within construction and engineering insurance both internally and externally.
You will be responsible for managing and development for the new business / growth plans of the business across the UK. You will have authority in terms of growth control and will need strong compliance / commercial awareness to achieve set goals. Relationship management is key, you wll have a strong networking and trading capability.
You will hold the highest level of authority within the division with only the Chief Underwriting Officer holding a higher authority. You will be a knowledgeable referral point for underwriting decisions relating to and supporting the division from direct and indirect team members.
You will implement the strategic underwriting growth plans ensuring alignment with the wider business ambitions. You will work closely with the Underwriting Leader in achieving sustainable, profitable growth and revenue with innovative approaches to maximise new and existing business growth.
To be considered you must have a strong technical background within Construction and Engineering Insurance. Ideally you will have people management experience and have been involved in strategy. Experienced Construction and Engineering Underwriters who are ready to take the next step to develop into a management role will also be considered if you are able to display the necessary ability to succeed in the role.
