The Structural Engineer role
The role of the Structural Engineer is a key component in the construction process. Part of the wider discipline of civil engineering, structural engineering is concerned with the design and physical integrity of buildingsThe ideal Structural Engineer will be an outgoing individual with superb communication skills. A broad design knowledge as well as experience with REVIT will serve you well in this Structural Engineer role as you make your mark on our exciting range of projects. This role will typically take responsibility for the structural engineering design and it is expected that you would be able to demonstrate thorough knowledge and understanding of British Standards Building and Material Codes, experience with a wide range of material, including the design of Steel, concrete and wood building structures and an ability to accept a high degree of responsibility in a team, combined with the ability to work independently.

Job Description
- Preparation of detailed engineering designs, drawings, documents and specifications
- Checking the work/specifications of other Engineers
- Making calculations about loads and stresses
- Selecting appropriate construction materials
- Providing technical advice
- Obtaining planning and/or building regulations approval*
- Liaising with relevant professional staff such as architects, monitoring and inspecting work undertaken by contractors
- Set up, manage and review job/project administrative systems, including planning and monitoring job resourcing/expenditure
- Undertake detailed engineering design for building structures
- Inspecting properties to check conditions/ foundations
