You will need to be a dab hand with a pencil, able to command the respect of colleagues and clients, and experienced in successfully leading teams across a number of projects. This capability should be matched by excellent interpersonal skills, and a readiness to represent us at meetings with clients and project teams.
Key responsibilities and tasks …
- Delivery of geotechnical services for small/medium size projects, and as part of larger teams for more complex projects, all under the leadership of the discipline director
- Delivery of geotechnical services to other disciplines , particularly the structures teams, nationally and internationally
- Act as ‘project manager', as defined by the company, for single-discipline projects
- Plan, coordinate, undertake and/or supervise technical work on projects
- Act as the company's ambassador to clients, reflecting the practice's ethos and values
- Take part in business development activities
- Ensure sustainability is at the heart of all work
- Assist with bid submissions, often in collaboration with colleagues
- Assist in providing guidance for less-experienced team members
The ideal candidate digits and skills …
- 6-8 years' experience in geotechnical design
- BEng/MEng (Hons) degree (or equivalent) in civil engineering
- Chartered (CEng MICE) as a civil engineer or close to application
- Proven experience in Finite Element analysis, numerical modelling and infrastructure engineering
- Proven experience in the leadership of technical design teams on complex urban projects
- Experience in renewable and offshore geotechnical design preferred
- Capable of working independently, leading design activities, and meeting challenging deadlines
- Willingness to be involved in our internal development groups
- Ability and enjoyment in communicating with a pencil
- A portfolio of completed projects
