Our client is in the enviable position of having a healthy orderbook and, as a result, they are looking to recruit a Graduate structural Engineer at entry level to join them in their Leeds office on a full time, permanent basis.
The successful structural engineer will join a leading national engineering consultancy, whose project workload covers a variety of sectors including commercial, retail and residential and you will have design experience in steel, concrete, masonry and timber.
Responsibilities:
Structural engineering assessment and inspection of new and existing properties in steel, concrete, masonry and timber,
Prepare high quality technical reports,
Undertake analysis and design using hand calculations as well as a range of software packages, including CSC, Fastrak, Tekla, Building Designer, TEDDS, CSI Safe, Robot and Bluebeam Revu,
Carry out hand calculations for verifying software outputs,
Ensure that quality and consistency of technical output (drawings, reports, calcs, etc.) is always maintained,
Liaise with other members of the design team to achieve a coordinated design solution that meets the Clients objectives,
Work on projects of various sizes and complexity including offices, hotels, large housing developments, retail etc.
Requirements of the structural engineer:
A degree in structural engineering,
Good knowledge about all the common forms of construction, material and building types,
Graduate member of IStructE or ICE,
Report writing Ability, communication and numerical skills is required,
Experience in working in building sector (e.g. as summer placement) would be advantageous,
Experience of using structural analysis design software packages is advantageous,
Good knowledge of Eurocodes is essential. Knowledge about British Standards would be advantageous,
Full clean driving license.
Excellent, positive, reliable work ethic is essential.
