Job Title: Civil Engineer
Location: Reading (60/40 Hybrid Working)

Purpose of the role:

The Civil Engineer will be a resource for civil engineering activities across all Anesco projects. Working with in-house and third-party design teams the Civil Engineer will be responsible for providing the civils design, structural and construction safety information for the project considering relevant industry standards and regulations.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
  • Guaranteeing the compliance of Civil/ Structural design & engineering solutions within client requirements, industry standards and Group HSE, engineering processes and best practices.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure layout and design including - layout of steel construction, layout of areas for electrical equipment, as well as development of access & maintenance requirements.
  • Technical participation in constructability reviews and design reviews.
  • Providing demonstrable knowledge of European and UK standards applicable to the Solar, Utilities, Construction and Renewable Energy industries.
  • Background in leading multi-office projects, and exposure to UK Projects.

  • Executes project work; coaches designers preparing systems sketches and drawings; collects document specifications based on appropriate engineering criteria and technical manuals, ensuring that work conforms to applicable codes and standards as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Ensures technical quality in all phases of work.
  • Monitors schedules, maintenance, and progress in all projects.
  • Coordinates manhour budget control and work allocation.
  • Identifies and controls change management.
  • Provides effective, tactful, and articulate communication with all colleagues and team members.
  • Coordinates site survey activities with project team and partners.
  • Prepares technical reports and works on all assignments independently or with minimal supervision & guidance.

Skills & Competencies:
  • Experience working in a multi-project environment with strong technical and commercial skills.
  • Work as part of a team of technical professionals with the ability to adapt to project dynamics.
  • Positive interpersonal skills dealing with internal stakeholders and external customers.
  • Ability to work efficiently on multiple projects within tight deadlines.
  • The role requires excellent technical experience, ideally in all three Civil / Structural / Architectural specialties, and a full understanding of, and expertise in, various scopes in all phases of projects.
  • Excellent IT skills, a high attention to detail, be proactive and flexible.

Qualifications & experience:
  • An HNC or BSc degree in design/engineering with extensive and deep of experience in a design engineering and Civil design work environment.
  • CSA engineering and design leadership expertise for both small and large EPC projects.
  • Strong hands-on experience with all aspects of civil and structural design works utilising UK and European codes and familiarity with developing Specifications and Standards, progress reporting and supervising teams.
  • Capability in performing material take-off either from model or from general arrangements.
