This opportunity in civil and structural forensic investigations offers unparalleled variety. Their experts are primarily drawn from the consulting engineering sector, following a period of training they are tasked with establishing the root cause of issues affecting building structures, civil structures and infrastructure. The variety of work they are engaged in is almost infinite, covering total and partial collapse, failure of components, inadequate ground conditions, acts of God, explosion, impact, inappropriate design, floored construction methodology and much more. As a structural engineer your role will engage your specialist technical skills, when needed you will have the support of internal and external experts providing additional civil and structural expertise, plus advice on any associated geotechnical, facade or materials issues.

Your Profile
  • A minimum of three years consulting engineering experience
  • A degree qualified civil or structural engineer
  • Experience in designing building or civil structures
  • Inquisitive by nature
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Fee levels are high and their industry performs well throughout all economic cycles. They are not subject to the tender and framework driven business model that is common to the consulting and contracting industry. They are typically appointed by insurers, loss adjusters and legal practices. Their work is often used to settle litigation in courts of law. This provides excellent stability and career growth potential, it also means average remuneration levels in the sector are higher. There are regular CPD activities and there is support to achieve chartered status if required.
