Graduate Civil Engineer - Development Programme 2023 (Gloucester)
We are looking for a graduate Civil Engineer to join our 2023 development programme and help us shape the future within our Building team in Gloucester.
The Opportunity:
You will work on a Ministry of Defence (MoD) project, based in Tewksbury, Gloucestershire as part of a £259 million contract. Skanska is providing modern, sustainable, and future-proof storage solutions for over 4100 tracked & wheeled British Army vehicles, ready for deployment around the world, as part of the VSSP (Vehicle Storage and Support Programme) project.
Our two-year graduate programme will help you build on your degree and establish a career where you'll have the freedom to learn, achieve your ambitions, and leave your mark on the communities in which we work.
The programme provides a pathway to develop a complete skill set developing both technical and interpersonal skills. This includes courses, on-the-job learning, working in teams to solve business challenges, and building a strong professional network, all while improving the business.
Location: You will be based in Tewksbury, Gloucester
Security Clearance: As an MoD site, successful candidates will have to pass high security clearance (SC). In order to pass, both UK and non-UK subjects must have lived in the UK for a minimum of 5 years.

What you will do:
- Plan and produce methodologies for mobilising and setting up sections of work
- Utilise surveying skills to set out details for construction
- Work with subcontractors to ensure the timely preparation and implementation of Risk Assessments & Method Statements, Inspection Test Plans, Permits & Consents
- Site coordination and logistical planning to enable works to be carried out safely
- Identify the needs for temporary works and completing temporary work designs working with the temporary works team
- Maintain a high standard of Quality Control and Quality Assurance records, including managing Non-Conformance Reports and Early Warning Notices
- Produce accurate and detailed daily diaries for your work areas
- Work collaboratively with enabling teams, for example in Traffic Management, Earthworks, Utilities and Community Relations
- Complete environmental risk assessments for works and assist in managing works activities in an ecologically sensitive manner
Who you are:
- Studying towards (final year) or having completed a Construction Management or Civil Engineering Degree accredited by the ICE
- Have excellent communications skills and attention to detail
- Values driven and passionate about sustainability
- Commercially minded
- Enthusiastic about learning and developing new ways of thinking
- Driving licence preferable due to the remote location of the project
