Job DescriptionAs a Senior Civil Engineer, you will work across multiple clean and wastewater infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects to ensure civil designs comply with Thames Water standards and industry best practices. You will achieve this by checking civil designs produced by project engineers or by originating complex civil designs. Non-infrastructure projects improve clean and wastewater treatment plants while infrastructure projects improve the network between the treatment plants and Thames Water customers.
Your responsibilities:
Develop affordable, low-carbon, safe-to-construct civil designs including pressured pipelines, gravity pipelines and channels, roads, slabs, crane pads, ground-bearing reinforced concrete slabs, and thrust blocks.
Understand Thames Water's civil specifications and discharge the duties of the Designer and Principal Designer under CDM2015.
Provide civil design quality assurance by checking the work of others and ensuring designs satisfy Thames Water specifications.
Mentor and develop Graduate and Engineer level civil engineers
Communicate clearly with the project teams you are part of to ensure the deliverables you are responsible for are completed on time and within budget.
Support engagement with suppliers and subcontractors and undertake technical reviews of their designs.
Continue to develop a culture of technical excellence by identifying competency gaps in the team and support the Principal Civil Engineer deliver training to remove these gaps.
Build relationships with the Thames Water Technical Assurance team to enhance our reputation and promote a "one-team" approach to project delivery.
Identify opportunities to innovate and change the Thames Water specifications to improve value for money.
Support teams during construction and contribute towards successful project close-out and post-project reviews
