A design and build contractor is currently looking to strength their design team with a Principal Civil Engineer, from an infrastructure background.

This is a great opportunity for someone looking to look within a successful and growing company who are currently very busy in the water sector.

The Role

* Responsible and accountable for the technical excellence and quality of the design deliverables developed by the technical delivery teams within a specific discipline area.

* Act as a focal point for any queries, innovations or coordination related to the infrastructure discipline.

* Delegate tasks and responsibilities to Lead Engineers as appropriate. Delegate tasks and responsibilities to Discipline Engineers - only with prior agreement from their Design/Technical Manager.

* Chair regular discipline meetings to promote team engagement and cascade topical information and initiatives.

* Identify training requirements and support the delivery for all discipline engineers, especially apprentices and graduates.

* Continuously strive to improve ways of working and promote innovation. Identify opportunities that may facilitate cost savings, carbon reductions or other efficiencies.

* Drive the development of Standard Products and promote their use within the delivery teams. Engage with the Design Manager (Engineering & Infrastructure) and Standard Products team to identify and sponsor new products and identify resource requirements.

* Champion excellence in Health and Safety in design. Support all Discipline Engineers in achieving sufficient knowledge and skills to produce safe designs and discharge their obligations according to the CDM Regulations.

* Be responsible for clear & continuous communication with all Infrastructure design managers.

* Work with the Design Managers (Engineering and Infrastructure) and the Engineering Innovation team to develop new digital tools and design procedures.

* Provide career management: promote professional development, deliver performance reviews, and enable opportunities for growth.

The Candidate

* Educated to degree level in relevant engineering subject

* Member of professional body

* Experience working as a Principal or Senior discipline engineer

* Good communication collaboration and management skills
