ROLE: Design Engineer - structural steel
LOCATION: Wales
CONTRACTOR: highly reputable steel work specialist
We are looking for a Design Engineer to work in a highly experienced design team to resolve technical and design related tasks to enable successful project delivery within budgetary and programme constraints.
This person will be required to carry out full and detailed temporary works designs in accordance with the companies procedures, all applicable design standards, codes of practice and client specifications.
When required, you will manage external design offices for individual projects and monitor progress against allocated budget and programme.
This person will be expected to attend project design and site meetings as required, so will need to be able to build and maintain good relations with prospective clients and their project team personnel to promote the Companies values. In all interactions with customers, our culture of quality, professionalism, fairness, and sustainability should be held foremost in our client's minds.
Required skills:
Working knowledge of 2D/ 3D Frame Analysis software.
Be able to design to current codes and standards.
All work to be carried out to current CDM regulations.
Knowledge of current codes of practice and standards related to design e.g. Eurocodes, Temporary works design, regulations and statutory requirements.
Good computer skills including use of AutoCAD.
Use of 3D BIM packages desirable but not essential.
Good organisational skills.
Effective at communicating with others and presenting information.
Personable and able to work well within a team.Applicants will need to be qualified to degree level, in either Civil or Structural Engineering and being chartered or working towards chartered status with IStructE or IcE is desirable.
Graduate engineers are encouraged to enrol on an approved training scheme and work towards chartered status. They should identify training needs and maintain up to date CPD records.
