Assistant Professor of Civil and Mechanical Engineering
Description
The School of Engineering at the University of Mount Union invites applicants for a tenure-track faculty position at the assistant professor rank to begin August 1, 2023. We seek an educator-scholar with emphasis in engineering mechanics and structural engineering. The School of Engineering currently offers ABET-accredited programs in civil and mechanical engineering. Newly created programs in biomedical engineering and computer engineering are seeking initial ABET accreditation.
Responsibilities
Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate engineering education in a liberal arts setting. Industrial experience is highly desirable. Primary responsibilities include teaching courses within engineering mechanics and structural engineering and participating in the ABET accreditation process. Willingness and flexibility to teach both a variety of civil and mechanical engineering including introductory engineering and general education courses is desired, as well as an interest in participating in the school’s unique global engineering course and field experience. Additional responsibilities include advising civil and mechanical engineering students, industrial outreach leading to student internship and employment opportunities, engaging in professional development and scholarly activities, and participation in university service. The School is interested in candidates who will contribute to diversity in higher education through their teaching, research, and service. Qualifications
Ph.D. in civil or mechanical engineering or a closely related field. A bachelor’s degree in civil or mechanical engineering is required. The candidate must be PE licensed or have the ability to obtain licensure within two years.
