Who Were Looking For

The Highways Technical Services and Strategic Projects Sections are responsible for the appraisal, design, construction, supervision and project management of a wide variety of exciting and challenging projects, including reclamation, drainage, ground stability, contaminated land, transportation, traffic management, highway structures and other highway related projects.

We are looking to appoint four Civil Engineering Apprentices to join our teams within Traffic, Flood Risk and Strategic Projects. The successful candidate must have excellent communication skills, be well organised and able to work in a team.

Entry Requirements

The applicant must possess 5 GCSEs at A-C grade including Maths, English and a Science based subject or equivalent.

What Will You Study?

All Apprentices will be supported to complete a QCF (Qualification Credit Framework, formerly NVQ) qualification in Construction and the Built Environment, Level 3 via a training provider or local college.

What will you be paid?

This is a fixed term post for a two-year period and will start in September. You will be paid National Minimum Wage dependent on age:
  • 23 and over £10.42
  • 21 - 22 £10.18
  • 18 - 20 £7.49
  • Under 18 £5.28

Due to the Apprenticeship entry criteria, applications cannot be accepted from any applicant who has already gained a similar qualification at level 3 or above in the role applied for.

For example, if you have a degree in Civil Engineering you will not be eligible to apply for a Civil Engineering apprenticeship post. However, you could apply for any other apprenticeship post. Any such applications will not be considered.
