We have an opportunity for an experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer with strong technical credentials and a particular focus on advanced geotechnical analysis and offshore geotechnics to support our increasing workload in the UK and globally.

My client has an impressive portfolio of prestigious geotechnical projects, and they need to increase their team to meet the growing demands of their clients, especially in the infrastructure sector (particularly rail, highways & water) and the energy sector which includes carbon capture & storage, renewable energy, low carbon engineering, and nuclear power.

My client is looking for someone with the drive and enthusiasm to embrace the future. My client passionately supports career development and has a strong ethos towards technical development and support. We have the depth of knowledge and breadth of expertise to help you build a bright career in this exciting and rapidly evolving sector.

My client's business is one of the world's most respected design, engineering, and project management consultancies, with over 20,000 employees worldwide. My client offers more than just a job; they offer an opportunity to make a difference and shape the world to benefit future generations and the natural environment. As one of the UK's leading geotechnical consultancies, my client offers a comprehensive service in ground engineering. With more than 280 UK-based ground engineering professionals, my client's geotechnical reputation is built on the skills, excellence, and commitment of our people.

Requirements

We are looking for a range of staff who will take on the Senior Geotechnical Engineering role in my client's Ground Engineering business. We are looking for staff who can lead complex geotechnical projects with minimal supervision, work in a technical review function, and support my client's colleagues to increase their understanding of advanced geotechnical principles and offshore geotechnics.

The successful candidate will be expected to hold a pivotal role in both the Offshore Geotechnics and Numerical Modelling Technical Disciplines, ensuring that my client continues to push the envelope of our geotechnical design and modeling capability.

The candidate should have:

A strong academic background with a relevant degree and ideally an MSc or PhD in a relevant subject.
Proven geotechnical analysis and design experience, with experience in the Offshore sector.
Experience in leading offshore design including offshore foundation design (monopile, jacket foundations, and suction caissons), driveability, cable burial trench ability, and deep-water anchoring.
Detailed understanding of advanced constitutive soil models, parameter selection for such models, soil-structure interaction, and experience with numerical modeling software (FLAC, PLAXIS 2D / 3D, etc.) in addition to standard geotechnical software.
Experience in validation of geotechnical numerical analysis and numerical model calibration.
Experience in managing the process of geotechnical numerical analysis within an interdisciplinary project environment.
A desire to drive digital innovation and further my client's capability in offshore geotechnics and advanced geotechnical analysis.
Excellent communication skills and confidence to liaise with clients and engineers from other disciplines.
Excellent report writing skills with the ability to self-check and produce accurate work.
A willingness to travel on short assignments both within the UK and overseas.
Working towards or holding Chartered status.
A valid UK driving license.

Flexible Working

My client recognizes that there are many well-qualified people who are looking to further their careers, but who cannot commit to full-time employment. We support flexible working arrangements and are interested to discuss how we can accommodate individual requirements. As part of this commitment, we understand the need for a diverse and flexible workforce, where a work-life balance is important. So, by default, my client offers flexible working, where there is no fixed 9 'till 5, no need for a 5-day week, no requirement for a full-time contract, and no requirement to spend all your working time in the office.

Our IT systems support homeworking, so where you have parental or carer duties; or you simply need to be elsewhere for a parcel, servicing your car, or waiting for a tradesperson; my client will work for you. Similarly, my client's corporate social responsibility provides the opportunity to give something back to the community, and we run professional networks supporting groups such as local schools, charities, parents, those coming out of the armed forces and women in engineering.

Rewards and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary that is regularly tested against other consultants with a default 25 days leave each year plus bank holidays and options to buy some or sell off that leave. Salary and benefits will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

To support and safeguard your physical and mental well-being we provide an employee assistance program offering advice and support in times of need. Our offices run their own sports and social clubs providing a wide range of activities. You will also have access to our Flexible Benefits, where you can opt into a wide range of benefits to complement your work/life balance: such as medical insurance, gym membership, the cycle-to-work scheme, childcare vouchers, charitable giving, additional pension contributions etc.

Training and Development

My client develops individuals through a portfolio of training and development activities designed to help you make the best of your abilities and talents. These are reviewed with individuals through an annual development process. We support staff in achieving and maintaining membership in relevant institutions. You will also be part of our global Technical Networks, which provide a flow of technically orientated information and ideas throughout the company.

The learning and development experience in our Ground Engineering team is different from that at most other companies. Here we thoroughly recognize the importance of our people and we invest for the long term to provide them with the technical, commercial, and managerial expertise they need throughout their career. My client's staff continue to learn and develop irrespective of their position or experience.

Our investment includes our acclaimed technical conferences, regular presentations, and discussion groups, field trips, bespoke training courses as well as active on-the-job mentoring. Fulfilling learning and development experiences include the opportunity for international assignments in a variety of countries.

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary, it will be discussed with you at interview. The vetting process is delivered by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and may require candidates to provide proof of residency in the UK of 5 years or longer. If applying to this role please do not refer to (in conversation) or include in your application or CV, details of any current or previously held security clearance
