Structural Engineer

Responsibilities:

We are currently recruiting for a Structural Engineer to join our Paddington office in London. We are seeking a talented structural engineer with design experience in different projects including buildings and underground structures. As a Structural Engineer, you will be able to:

* Gain experience and grow your career within our infrastructure business

* Be involved in the design or a section of the design responding directly to either the Team Lead or the Project Director while delivering the project

* Liaise with other sections to ensure any clashes on-site is foreseen and managed to guarantee a smooth flow of work

* Review construction drawings and identify either any missing information or foresee any technical queries to mitigate any delays from insufficient information

* Provide support in the development of the business including fee proposals preparation and bid documents

Candidate:

As a Structural Engineer, both your academic and working career have provided you with technical skills and structural knowledge which have given you the ability to translate your understanding of structural behaviours and analytical techniques into effective structural analyses and designs. Your sound understanding of civil structural engineering gives you the ability to design any kind of structures identifying and foreseeing any criticality while carrying out the job. Your experience in the analysis and design of structures means you are familiar with working with the industry codes, including Eurocodes, and standards. With your interpersonal skills, you can communicate effectively in the face to face meetings with clients and colleagues. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:

• A Master's degree in Structural Engineering with, preferably, a solid background in seismic design (MSc or equivalent)

• Near Chartered with with a relevant professional institution (IstructE / ICE)

• Right to work in the UK (mandatory)

• Between 2 and 4 years of practical design experience in the infrastructures industry with a focus on underground structures

• Excellent understanding of codes, including Eurocodes, and UK standards

• Any previous site experience is considered as a bonus, even though not required

• Sound experience in analytical software packages such as SAP2000, Midas Civil and Lusas

* Ability to critically review construction drawings and capable of preparing construction's sketches for the contractor

* Ability to liaise with cad technicians and provide markups drawings for detailed design

* Sounds knowledge of the CDM regulations and commonplace UK construction techniques

* To hold a UK driving license and a CSCS card is considered as a bonus

* To be a good self-motivated team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills

* Able to work on own initiative and seek out opportunities in line with the level of responsibility

* Capable of working under pressure, when required

* The ability to liaise well with professionals from other disciplines

* A thinking "outside the box" and a can-do attitude to solving complex design and site related problems outside the candidate's current experience
