Structural Engineer - Data Centre -Hybrid role - office based in Bedford

Our client is an established package contractor active on a number of projects across Mainland Europe.

This organisation is currently delivering sizeable sub-contract packages including,
  • Interior Fit Out: Drylining, HAC Units, Decoration, Penetrations & Firestopping, Joinery, White Walls, Suspended Ceilings & Blockwork
  • Envelope: Cladding, Roofing, Curtain Walls, Louvres, Doors, Pre Fabrication
  • Steel Frame: Structural, Secondary & Intumescent Coating

Due to continued growth and expansion, our client is now seeking an experienced Project Manager (hybrid with occasional travelling to the Netherlands or UK sites), to join the commercial team based on a data centre project in the Netherlands.

Responsibilities:
  • Undertake structural design and analysis work for a range of building types, including steel, concrete, timber, and masonry structures.
  • Liaise with clients, architects, and contractors to ensure that design requirements are met and projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Produce high-quality engineering reports and calculations, using appropriate software packages and analytical methods.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians, as required.
  • Participate in internal design reviews and ensure that design work is compliant with relevant codes and standards.
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest engineering research and developments, and share knowledge with colleagues.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the design team, including architects, MEP engineers, and contractors.

Job Requirements/Experience
  • 5+ years of structural engineering experience, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality projects.
  • Experience in residential, commercial, and wider urban projects.
  • Experience working with steel and concrete structures essential.
  • Experience with masonry or timber frames desirable.
  • Option to work on a hybrid basis (if desired).
  • Confident communicator, able to explain engineering concepts clearly and simply to a range of stakeholders.
  • Passionate about continuous learning and technical excellence, with a desire to develop new skills and expertise.
  • Strong interest in architecture and the relationship between structural engineering and architectural design.
  • Committed to sustainability and reducing embodied carbon through design.
  • Proficient with Tekla Structural Designer, Tedds, Robot and/or MasterSeries.
  • MEng or BEng in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Chartered with iStructE, or Incorporated (desired but not essential).
