Geotechnical Engineer / Civil Engineer / Design Manager
Opportunity to join one of the UK's most successful building & civils main contractors.
(Assistant or Intermediate or Senior Engineers considered)
Seeking candidates with strong background in Foundation Design/Geotechnics.
Both Geotechnical Design Engineers and Civil Engineers considered.
Role:
As part of a growing in house geotechnical team for this main contractor you will provide support on Geotechnical problems and Earthworks.
You will liaise with external design consultants and provide advice to the site teams and when applicable provide value engineering solutions.
Please note this is not a hands on designer role, more a design management role. Happy to consider applications from geotechnical design engineers wanting to transfer experience over to main contractor side or someone already with main contractor employment, alternatively perhaps a Design Manager working for a Piling subcontractor or similar.
Responsibilities:
As part of a wider Pre-Construction team delivering competitive tenders, negotiated tenders and cost plans for a variety of different sized projects (£20m - £120m) and responsible for all civil engineering/below ground elements elements including earthworks, foundations, retaining structures, drainage
* Assess Geotechnical information contained within Ground Investigations
* Coordinate further site investigation/testing to fill gaps in information
* Work with Geotechnical Consultants and Foundation specialists to develop innovative and cost effective foundation design and work up proposals incl costs with the supply chain
* Earthworks solutions and cut fill analysis
* Be able to communicate with clients, geotechnical specialists and sub-contractors both verbally and in writing.

My client is a leading building & civil engineering main contractor, with a busy and fast growing workload.
This employer is looking to strengthen their preconstruction team further with the appointment of a Geotechnical Manager to work on a range of Building & Civils Sector projects.
REQUIREMENTS:
To be considered for this Geotechnical Design Manager role you must meet the following criteria:
- Knowledge of Building and / or Civil Engineering Sector.
- Previous employment as a Geotechnical Engineer or Civil Engineer
-Strong background in Foundation Design/Geotechnics.
- Ideally previous Main Contractor employment but not essential. Candidates will also be considered from a Design Engineering Consultancy or Sub-contractor background.
- Relevant industry qualification (Degree / HND / HNC etc).
LOCATION:
The role will be a mix of remote working (2 -3 days) and site visits (Sites can be nationwide, so flexibility to travel as a visiting role is required).
Occasional (circa once every 2 weeks) travel to HQ in Northamptonshire.
Whilst being based more centrally, midlands candidates would be ideal, however given the flexible remote working they are also flexibile to consider candidates based from other locations nationwide as long as they are flexible to travel.
REMUNERATION:
The successful Geotechincal Design Manager will receive:
*£35,000 - £55,000 Basic (Dependant on experience)
*Car Allowance
*Healthcare
*Pension (very competitive).
