Description
Our Client is looking to recruit a Construction Area Engineer to be based on-site at Hinkley Point C.
The role is to provide effective and practical construction input into the contract execution phase of the project to ensure constructability aspects of the project execution are adequately considered.

Qualifications & Experience:
Produce Risk Assessed Method Statements for the Installation and Erection of Power Plant Equipment including static and rotating equipment.
Ensure that construction hazards and risks are fully considered by designers and contractors during the detailed engineering activities and that the appropriate mitigation is taken.
Reviews all engineering documentation for compliance with contract requirements.
Suggests new methods, procedures and work processes to continuously improve the project execution work process.
Is cognisant and aware of the commercial implications of decisions and the effect on construction activities.
Keeps Project Management team (PM Team) informed about engineering progress and problems.
Ensure coordination with all project stakeholders to facilitate project.
Liaise with the Client and PM team to ensure timely and effective release of construction data/drawings and resolution of problems.
Ensure that efficient and effective communications are maintained between the Client and PM team, ensuring that all reporting requirements are met.
Ensure, through review and monitoring, that the construction schedules are maintained, and that early mitigation of slippage is appropriately actioned.
Provide notification of any potential commercial risk or opportunity to the Project Management team for further action.
Assist in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships between all assigned construction team members and the HSE team at all levels to provide a consistent approach and proactive, effective resolution of issues.
Provide work packs for the supervision and trade teams to utilise for the erection and oversee the activities ensuring safety and quality are at the forefront of all aspect of the daily duties.
Provide permits to work for the working party.
Ensure that construction quality is maintained at an acceptable level, including compliance of all required records and tests; thus ensuring that turnover of each portion and the whole of the Works are successfully achieved
The candidate should either be degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or have suitable heavy Engineering experience in moving and installing equipment in the range of 2Te to 200Te sections.
Monitors performance and productivity of projects assigned engineering resources and provides feedback to supervisor and Pm team.
Monitors adequacy of staffing on assigned projects and works with resource managers to make necessary adjustments.

Thorough understanding of Engineering and Construction Industry namely within Oil, Gas and Nuclear.

Project Specifics
The position will be based onsite, starting ASAP through until project completion circa 2026.
This role will be a direct report to the onsite Construction Manager.
Working Hours: Initially working a basic 45 hours per week Monday to Friday, with the potential to increase to weekend working at a later date and to suit the project requirements. Review of the working pattern from the end of 2023 to work 12 day fortnight (yet to be confirmed).
