Datacenter Engineer - Environmental Sustainability - Electrical, Mechanical, PUE, WUE, Renewable Energy, HVAC, Surrey, Permanent
Datacenter Engineer is required to join a nearly 100 year old Environmental Institution on a full time basis. The primary responsibility of this role is to implement and maintain sustainable practices for my clients' Data Centre operations. The ideal candidate should have an excellent understanding of energy conservation, renewable energy and technologies, as well as a good knowledge of generators, UPS, and HVAC systems. The Datacenter Sustainability Engineer will work closely with the facility management team to identify opportunities for energy efficiency and cost savings.
Salary: £55,000 - £70,000 + 15% Bonus
Location: Surrey
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and implement sustainable strategies for data centre operations
* Analyze data centre operations to identify areas for improvement
* Conduct energy audits to assess energy consumption and identify areas for energy conservation
* Evaluate the feasibility of implementing renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and geothermal energy
* Develop and implement plans to reduce energy consumption, including cooling and lighting systems
* Conduct regular maintenance on generators, UPS, and HVAC systems to ensure efficient operation
* Monitor and analyze energy consumption and cost data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement
* Keep up-to-date with developments in energy conservation and renewable energy technologies
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or energy conservation or research
* Understanding of Net-Zero objectives and Power Utilisation and Water Utilisation improvements
* Good understanding of the electrical and mechnnical components of a Data Centre
* 5+ years of experience in data centre operations or related field
* Strong understanding of energy conservation, renewable energy, and technologies
* Knowledge of generators, UPS, and HVAC systems
* Ability to analyze and interpret data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement
* Familiarity with QA documentation, environmental rules, regulations and best practices
