If so, then this job opportunity might be for you.
Due to our ongoing success, we have a great opportunity for a Senior Structural Engineer to
accompany our team on a wide variety of interesting and challenging projects. You will be involved in both new build and refurbishment projects, working from early planning to end delivery phase.
Role and responsibilities:
Your typical day will normally comprise leading your project team in the development of
Structural schemes from concept to detailed design in accordance with the current standards,
industry best practices and our internal Quality Management System.
This could involve the production or checking of design calculations, scheme details, and drawings for new build or refurbishments/conversion projects across multiple sectors and of various sizes, incorporating all principal materials. You will compile or assist in the production of technical specifications and general project information.
Part of the day-to-day work may also include the management and supervision of schemes of
varying size, developing, and agreeing design fundamentals with other members of the project
team, the development of fee proposals and assisting less experienced members of staff with
technical problems.
Occasionally you will need to undertake site investigations / inspections, represent the
company at meetings and liaise with external project team members to meet project deadlines.
Senior Structural Engineer will have:
- A Degree in Civil Engineering with a min. of 5 year of experience in structural design.
- Experience with Tekla Structural Designer, Tedds, Strap, Quikport or equivalent
software.
- Experience with, and or knowledge of concrete, steel, masonry, and timber
superstructure design.
- Had exposure to the design of the following:
· road and / or footbridge bridges,
· educational facilities
· industrial sector projects
· commercial sector projects
· refurbishment schemes
- Experience interpreting Soil Investigation Reports and substructure design (Pad and
strip foundations, piled foundations, retaining walls and ground improvement works).
- A basic understanding of drainage and infrastructure scheme concepts.
They will also ideally have:
- Experience of managing a team of engineers / technicians.
- Experience with AutoCAD and Revit.
- Commercial experience (assisting in the preparation fee proposals).
- Chartered Member (or approaching Chartered) of the IStructE, ICE or another professional Institutio
The right candidate will have good writing skills and social adaptability, good technical skills and possess an eye for detail. You will be a good communicator and be comfortable at
conveying technical concepts.
