Job Title: Environmental Quality Assurance Engineer
Location: Stevenage
Pay Range/details: Circa £40,000 - £50,000 DOE + Excellent Benefits + Pension + Flexible Working
Contract Type: Permanent
My client, who are the leading specialists in weapon systems are calling out for quality engineers of defence and avionics or aerospace backgrounds to join their rapidly expanding engineering teams due to exponential growth within the defence industry.
In this role, you will be supporting projects in all phases of the product lifecycle, you will play a pivotal role with the aim of ensuring all core Product Assurance activities are met. The role will involve working on a multi-national project, as well as with an established Quality network, preventing and minimising product non-conformance, supporting smooth equipment delivery, assuring reliable products, and continually growing the satisfaction of our customers.
Due to the nature of the projects, you will need to be able to obtain valid UK security clearance if you are successful in your application.
Key Responsibilities - Environmental Quality Assurance Engineer
Define quality Objectives for the Environmental Engineering & Facilities Function.
Define the Plan and Strategy for meeting annual quality objectives.
Working with PA to define and maintain Environmental Engineering & Facilities Function quality policies and procedures.
Develop and collate meaningful metrics on Quality / Cost / Schedule - subsequent analysis of metrics and implement improvements.
Management of Continuous Improvement activities within Environmental Engineering & Facilities
Deliver quality objectives through definition of resource / training / metrics.
Conduct Internal Audits/Assessments in accordance with relevant processes.
Support Product Assurance with facilitating external audits (such as LRQA AS9100 and ISO 14001).
Provide support for quality training within the Function.
Conduct supplier quality audits (such as external test facilities and manufacturers).
Lead, facilitate and influence Environmental Engineering & Facilities process governance, ensuring accurate process ownership, awareness and adherence is maintained.
Lead and develop the skills and capability of colleagues.
Plan, deliver and monitor assigned tasks, ensuring requirements are delivered according to safety, cost, quality (relevant standards and specifications) and schedule.
Qualifications & Requirements - Environmental Quality Assurance Engineer
Experience and knowledge of relevant Specifications and Standards, quality management systems within a laboratory environment
Understanding of typical and complex environmental test facilities, equipment and instrumentation (desirable).
Knowledge and competency in using quality related tools, especially for metrics.
Able to develop less experienced colleagues (coaching / training).
Strong Organisational skills
Strong communication and social skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to run reports in Excel, use SAP QM system, and document management tools.
Dedication - Continuously strive to maintain and improve quality standards, ensure adherence to plans, ensure actions arising from audits or non-conformances are completed to the agreed timescales.
