Position Summary

Plans and conducts independent work in the Civil Engineering discipline within the Manufacturing & Technology Business Unitrequiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures and criteria

Job Description & Requirements

The successful candidate shall:

• Produce designs for earthworks, site preparation, roads, storm water and underground service systems.
• Produce deliverables associated with the above designs.
• Evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering methods, techniques, procedures and criteria, using independent judgment.
• Work with other disciplines to ensure designs are both technically compliant and fully integrated.
• Performs work that involves conventional engineering practice associatedwith civil site development design activities but may include complex features such as resolving conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials and/or difficult coordination requirements.
• Coordinates engineering efforts in assigned areas between Civil Engineering and other engineering disciplines,clients, suppliers, and contractors

Skills

The successful candidate shall have the following skills:

• A broad technical knowledge of earthworks design.
• When delegated, is able to assume a lead technical role over other engineers, designers or project subgroups for completing specific tasks
• Provides technical direction and assigns work to subordinate engineers, designers, drafters, technicians and others who assist in performing specific assignments
• Familiarity with relevant industry codes and standards governing Civil, Site and Underground Services design - especially in Europe
• A thorough knowledge of constructability, operability, and maintainability requirements.
• Inherent organizational ability in addition to the ability to communicate effectively.
• Proficiency in the utilisation of 3-D earthworks modelling software. e.g InRoads and Smartplant 3D.
• Proficiency in the utilisation of 2-D drafting software e.g. Intergraph MicroStation
