Plan Check Engineer

The City of Walnut Creek is seeking to hire two (2) Plan Check Engineers to join the collaborative and dedicated Building Division in the Community Development Department. Under general supervision of the Chief Building Official, Plan Check Engineers analyze, review and approve complex plans and specifications of a wide variety of structures, including residential and commercial buildings, for compliance with applicable codes and regulations. They provide code interpretations to developers, design professionals, contractors and homeowners, and exercise considerable judgment in the application and enforcement of codes and regulations.
  
Development in the City of Walnut Creek is at a robust level. Multiple mixed-use, residential and commercial developments are currently going through the development entitlement process  and more are anticipated over the upcoming years.  Plan Check Engineers play an essential role in keeping these structures, and therefore the buildout of the City, safe and in Code compliance. In addition, Plan Check Engineers are  part of the larger development service team working both at City Hall and remotely who are communicative, courteous, and engaged!
