Would you like to play a significant part in the energy transition? Then our Connection/Development Engineer roles might be for you.

Help us to reach Net Zero by project managing the development of vital electricity infrastructure that allows our customers to connect onto the grid, and power to effectively flow through the transmission network from generation to demand. Youll be hired into a project to initially work on the development part of the project lifecycle, including needs case, option selection, design, planning and consultation, sanction, procurement/tender and contract award. Youll actively manage key stakeholders to ensuring their timely input and agreement to the option selection and development of projects, and timely approvals.

Youll be working within our New Infrastructure or Customer Connections department. Examples of New Infrastructure projects include the Hinkley Connection Project, to power six million households; the East Coast Offshore Portfolio, allowing us to connect 50 GW of offshore wind to the electricity transmission network by 2030, and the £1 billion London Power Tunnels 2 Project, to rewire London. Customer Connections projects include a massive change of asset types and cover the country with new substation builds, overhead line reconductoring, tertiary connections, Grid Parks, wind, offshore wind, EV charging and much, much more!

We have a range of Connection/Development Engineer roles available across the country, so let us know which location is preferable, and the level of role your experience is equivalent to through the application process. The salary you will be offered is determined on your level of experience. Dependent on which department you will be recruited to will determine your role title as either Project Manager or Connection Engineer.

As part of our hybrid working approach, this role offers a mix of home, site and office working.

About You

Associate Connections/Development Engineer Base Salary: £39,000 - £45,000 (plus London Weighting where applicable)

This is an entry level role where you will be supporting a Connections Engineer or Project Manager (Development Engineer) on a large complex project or leading lower risk lower value projects with oversight. It would be expected that you will have prior experience in a project or design or development role.

Connections/Development Engineer Base Salary: £45,000 - £56,000 (plus £4,500 Market Supplement and London Weighting where applicable)

This is an experienced development role, and you would be leading your own Connections or Development projects. You will develop the least cost, optimal, efficient and safe solution in line with CDM Regulations and SHESQ considerations. You will be responsible for ensuring that our technical position aligns with our commercial position; monitoring and developing the investment throughout the investment process and providing competent, accurate and timely financial forecasting information to support regulatory reporting . You will have experience of developing several projects already and ideally would be able to demonstrate experience of stakeholder and customer engagement, scope development, design and procurement.

Lead Connections/Development Engineer Base Salary: £56,000 - £64,000 (plus £4,500 Market Supplement and London Weighting where applicable)

This is a senior development role, and you will be responsible for the development of complex, high value, high risk projects or a number of linked projects. You will be seen as role model to Connections/Development Engineers and viewd as a subject matter expert in development of electricity infrastructure.
