Carmichael UK are seeking a Design Engineer to join a geotechnical specialist in Coventry on a permanent basis,
Job Summary: As a Design Engineer you will play a pivotal role in the successful delivery of geotechnical projects. Working within our dynamic team, you will be responsible for designing and analyzing complex geotechnical structures, ensuring compliance with engineering principles, industry standards, and client specifications. Your expertise will be essential in providing innovative and cost-effective solutions while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.
Responsibilities:
Conduct detailed geotechnical analysis and design for a variety of projects, including foundations, earthworks, retaining structures, and slope stability assessments.
Utilize appropriate software and engineering tools to develop accurate and efficient design models and calculations.
Collaborate closely with project managers, clients, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and objectives.
Prepare comprehensive design reports, drawings, and specifications, ensuring compliance with relevant codes, regulations, and industry best practices.
Perform site visits and inspections to gather essential data and assess site conditions.
Provide technical support and guidance to project teams during construction phases, ensuring design intent is maintained.
Stay updated with the latest industry trends, research, and advancements in geotechnical engineering, and apply this knowledge to enhance design methodologies.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field.
Proven experience in geotechnical design, preferably within the construction industry.
Strong knowledge of geotechnical analysis software and design tools (e.g., PLAXIS, WALLAP, GeoStudio). Experience with PLAXIS 3D is desirable.
Familiarity with relevant codes and standards, such as Eurocode, British Standards, and CIRIA guidance.
Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation) and geotechnical design software packages.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to apply engineering principles to practical situations.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and clients.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work within specified timelines.
Professional accreditation (e.g., Chartered Engineer) is desirable but not essential.
