About the Opportunity

Jacobs are looking for a Civil Engineer with extensive experience in the development and design of flood risk management and river engineering solutions to join our team in Peterborough. The role will also involve managing and leading FCERM appraisals.

As part of our Water and Catchment Management team, you will play an important role in supporting our diverse client base through leading delivery of outline, planning, tender and detailed design projects and in mentoring and developing more junior staff.

Your role will be to lead the technical delivery of projects for clients including the Environment Agency, Lead Local Flood Authorities and other public and private clients including Water and Sewerage Companies, Highways England, Network Rail, HS2 and Major Airports.

This will include tasks such as: Design of Earthwork embankments and conveyance channels; Reinforced concrete structures and foundations; Steelwork structures including piling; Flow control structures; Flood gates and demountable defences; Surface water drainage and Natural Flood Management solutions.

Here's What You'll Need:

You will be a Chartered Engineer (ICE or CIWEM) with experience in the development of outline and detailed design solutions for flood risk management schemes. In addition, you'll need:
  • BEng / MEng Civil Engineering
  • Experience of Safety in Design and Designers responsibilities under CDM
  • Extensive experience of quality assurance and technical direction
  • Experienced in technical coordination of multi-disciplinary teams
  • Effective mentoring and training skills
  • Understanding of the principles of FCERM appraisal guidance
