About the role
Our Transmission & Distribution division provides Civil and Structural expertise across Substation, Overhead Line, and Cable projects. We are looking for a Chartered Civil Engineer to join our Digital Award-winning High Voltage (HV) Civil and Structural Team. The role will span a diverse portfolio of work and there will be opportunities for advancement within the team.
The selected candidate will carry out work on Energy Generation, Transmission and Distribution sectors on wind farm connections, converter stations, High Voltage Substation, Overhead Line and Cable projects, fulfilling tasks including:
  • Project Management.
  • Proposal Writing.
  • Scheme Costings.
  • Front End Engineering Design (FEED).
  • Preparation of drawings for use in planning applications and tender packages.
  • Detailed Civil/Structural Design.
  • Cable Routing Design.
  • Design Coordination across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Preparation of Specifications.
  • Condition and Structural Assessment of existing structures to determine suitability for reuse.

Candidate Specification
About you
At the outset we would expect some experience in all named areas but, should your application be successful, you will have the opportunity to learn from other team members and to further develop your skills. Any prospective candidate must display a willingness to engage with new challenges as well as an ability to work confidently on tasks for which they have prior experience. Candidates should be able to demonstrate good written communication skills including report writing. The role will also require excellent communication and people skills. You will be in a client facing role and will be expected to liaise with clients and contractors both on-site and over the phone.
Candidates applying for this role must have a degree in Civil or Structural engineering with Chartership. Experience in drainage (preferably competence in microdrainage software) is beneficial for this role. They should also be prepared to undertake leadership role and assist in further development of the team.
It is preferable for the prospective candidate to have previous experience as an Project Engineer working with Energy Generation or Transmission and Distribution (T&D) projects. They will have detailed knowledge of CDM (2015) regulations and preferably, although not essential, knowledge of transmission network operators construction practices.
