Construction Engineer/Works Supervisor, reporting to a Project Manager for their duties under the delivery function and to the Quality Lead/Project Supervisor for any of their Supervisor duties. The Role involves supporting the Project Manager at multiple worksites ensuring the Contractor delivers the project in accordance with the Works Information.
The role will involve collaborative working with the Contractor's site team; undertaking safety, quality, and engineering inspections of the Contractor's works; identifying, reporting and resolving safety, quality, cost and schedule issues. The Construction Engineer / Works Supervisor will work closely with the Project Manager and the Project Supervisor and will be expected to spend a significant portion of their time on site.
The role will require a candidate who can underpin the Values of safety, respect, collaboration, Innovation and Legacy.
Assurance responsibility - Undertake all responsibilities and tasks in accordance with project charter, policies, strategies, processes and procedures and NEC contract
Health, safety, security and environment (HSSE) - Proactive commitment to ‘The Right Way'.
Key Responsibilities and tasks;
Monitor and report on site activities on behalf of the PM.
Discharge the delegated duties of the Supervisor (under the NEC3 contract) on their site.
Assist Project Supervisor with Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) intervention points on site and off site (where required).
Conduct quality, health, safety and environmental inspections and assurances to monitor compliance with the Works Information.
Contribute to continuous improvement, best practice and lessons learned
The identification of Non - Conformances (NCRs) and Defects and supporting their subsequent resolution.
Review technical queries and liaise with the engineering teams to resolve technical issues.
Support the Project Manager and Project Supervisor at meetings with the Contractor, Stakeholders and Senior Management.
Providing input into engineering problems and coordinating their resolution (where it is not the responsibility of the Contractor).
Reviewing and commenting on the Contractor's submissions e.g. ITPs / Material Approvals and Method Statement.
Ensure that the Contractor follows the proper processes identified in the Works Information to ensure compliance.
Assist the Project Manager in administering the contract by working with other members of the team to write and respond to contractual communications.
Become conversant with the provisions of the Contract to ensure that the works are constructed or installed in accordance with the Contract.
Support the Project Manager in the review and acceptance of the Contractor certification packages.
Perform schedule reviews to ensure work is delivered on-time.
Recognise areas for improvement and communicate them to the Project Manager to ensure continual improvement.
Evaluate and consider HSSE and CDM (Construction, Design and Management) by the virtue of robust preparation, planning and execution of works.
Take reasonable care of your own and others for HSSE, by focusing on the potential outcomes of your actions and using the RightWay.Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree qualified in Engineering / Construction discipline or similar, or related field experience.
Construction experience in civil engineering
UK resident or eligibility to work in the UK.
Understanding or prior experience with administering NEC3 ECC contracts, awareness of the NEC Supervisor role.
Experience in quality control, inspector or Supervisor role.
Capable of managing peers.
Competent in participating in meetings.
Experience in Construction Management.
Experience of working with stakeholders.
Excellent communication skills.
A good understanding of construction techniques and methodologies applicable to the Works.
Project specific health and safety training, e.g. CSCS Card, TW Passport,
SMSTS, CP1, Emergency First Aid, and Environmental Awareness.
