We are currently working with a leading multi-discipline construction consultancy seeking to recruit a Senior Civil Engineer to join their growing team in Northampton. The ideal candidate would be a well-rounded civil engineer, technically competent across all core civil engineering disciplines, with strong communication skills, and prior experience leading teams. You will take on a high degree of autonomy and responsibility to ensure further growth of the infrastructure team and portfolio.
Responsibilities will include:
Leading a number of engineers and technicians within a design team, being responsible for their management and the efficient and timely delivery of their output.
Undertaking conceptual and feasibility design, as well as detailed design independently.
Undertaking and managing thorough checking of technical work carried out by junior staff to ensure that deliverables are correct and in accordance with all relevant standards, guidance and regulations.
Managing a number of projects at any one time, overseeing the production and delivery within the office.
Attending client and design team meetings to convey and relay key issues on technical matters, as well as programme, contractual and commercial matters.
Training of junior staff while controlling quality of drawings within the office.
Co-ordinating with colleges in other regional offices to ensure consistent standards are provided nationwide.
Partaking in internal peer reviews and pro-actively encouraging knowledge dissemination within the company.
Complying with company design, safety, quality, environmental compliance and procedural standards.
Skills & Experience Required:
ICE Chartered status, or well on the way to achieving Chartership.
Strong experience of highway and drainage design.
Working knowledge of S104, S38, S278 sectional agreements.
Have sound technical abilities and confidence, whilst knowing self-limitations.
Experienced in the use of Causeway PDS, Civil 3D, MicroDrainage, AutoCAD or similar.
Must have strong communication skills, being confident to liaise with clients, local authorities, Water Companies, contractors and colleagues alike.
Must hold a full clean driving licence.
Must be prepared to travel UK wide and stay away from home on occasion.
