Introduction
Astute are proudly partnered with a leading manufacturer of heavy duty gearboxes and machinery destined for use in the wind and renewable energy industry. In support of continual growth, I am looking for a number of mechanical fitters / mechanical technicians with experience in gearbox assembly, maintenance and refurbishment.

The successful candidates will primarily be responsible for workshop duties, overhauling and servicing large gearboxes that are brought in for repair, to be returned or sold on for further operations - extending their service life significantly. On occasion, some technicians will travel(paid) for onsite operations if required.

Roles & Responsibilities
Reporting to the Service Manager, you will be responsible for:
Heavy duty gearbox and power transmission repair, maintenance and overhaul. This will include striping, inspecting, repairing or replacing components, re-assembly, testing and report writing after completed works.
Where required, maintaining and being responsible for workshop tooling and equipment.
Maintaining adherence to workshop standards, housekeeping and health & safety.
Following industry regulations and standards, championing good working practises.
When required, travelling nationally and internationally for onsite works - not a regular occurrence, but the successful candidates must be able and willing to travel.

Skills & Qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
Must have prior experience in mechanical fitting, inspection, repair and assembly of gearboxes.
A strong and demonstrable understanding of mechanical engineering principals.
While not essential, a higher education certification in mechanical, automotive, agricultural or other engineering would be an advantage (such as NVQ, C&G, HND/HNC etc).
Additional works using heavy duty workshop equipment such as presses, overhead cranes, manual or automated machinery etc would be advantageous.
Able to understand engineering drawings and diagrams.
General workshop duties.
Strong adherence to Health & Safety in the workplace.
Strong written and verbal communications skills and computer literate.
Willingness to travel to site where required - this can include national and some international travel.
A valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel for client and site visits is essential.

Salary & Package
What's on offer for this exciting role:
Basic salary between £28,000-£34,000
Plus overtime, expenses, paid accommodations for travel works etc
28 days annual leave and contribution pension
