We are currently working with a global engineering and development consultancy seeking to recruit a Principal Civil Engineer (Infrastructure) to join their growing team in Southampton. As the Principal Civil Engineer, you will take lead on a variety of projects from inception i.e., due diligence, master planning support and scheme viability, through to detailed design delivery, value engineering, project management and execution. The portfolio of projects will be diverse so you will require an adaptable and flexible approach towards delivery.
Responsibilities will include:
Supervising resources within project capacity including Engineers & Designers.
Attending and supporting with client meetings & presentations as required.
Checking and approving own and other staff work, including design proposals.
Collating plans and schedules and monitoring work to meet deadlines, company quality assurance and other requirements.
Monitoring project scope and deliverables against budget.
Preparing technical expert reports and fee proposals.
Supporting and mentoring junior staff to develop the infrastructure team's skill & capability.
Providing design delivery advice to clients and project teams.
Leading on internal and external liaison with key stakeholders.
Promoting adherence to Health & Safety policy and procedures.
Skills & Experience Required:
Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
Chartered (or Incorporated) Engineer or working towards professional qualifications.
Demonstrable experience in the design of highway and civil infrastructure projects.
Able to lead and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams.
Experienced in the use of MicroDrainage and AutoDesk design software.
Able to interpret industry design standards, i.e., Sewers for Adoption, etc.
Solid knowledge of design tools within a BIM environment.
Experience of managing programmes and resources, delivering to time and budget.
Able to communicate confidently and professionally with colleagues, clients, and other stakeholders at all levels (written and verbal).
Ability to demonstrate a professional approach and demeanour with a strong ethical approach to safety, quality, and environmental protection.
The role offers an opportunity to work with a team of innovative engineers and specialists while taking on exciting and challenging projects.
