Project Civil Engineer

Are you the highly motivated Project Civil Engineer we need to lead the design of all civil engineering projects at Grundon, an award-winning waste management and quarrying company with fascinatingly diverse land holdings, buildings and operations?

You'll need a practical understanding of civil engineering design and construction, plus at least three years' engineering experience behind you to succeed in a rewarding role that offers scope for you to build on your specialist knowledge as you work towards achieving chartered engineering status, supported by an approachable team.

Based at our Beenham office, near Reading, on a permanent contract, but with regular site visits, mainly in the southeast, you can expect a starting salary of £37,000-£42,800 with a host of benefits, including:

What you'll be doing as our Project Civil EngineerWorking closely with our Head of PED, the Projects, Engineering & Design (PED) team that looks after all development, advisory and maintenance work at our current and future sites, you will use your expertise to:- Manage design consultants and assess designs for compliance and suitability. Recent projects include the establishment of new waste transfer stations, quarries and commercial developments.- On smaller projects, design civil engineering solutions for new installations, modifications, small works and maintenance.- Manage small-medium sized construction projects from start to finish.- Carry out routine assessments of key load-bearing structures.- Provide civil engineering advice, design and support services.

What we're looking for in our Project Civil Engineer - Degree level qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering- Demonstrate deductive reasoning, analytical-thinking and problem-solving skills- Highly organised, with the ability to plan, prioritise and organise tasks simultaneously- Good interpersonal skills - you can communicate clearly and concisely at all levels- Ideally, previous project management experience- Strong IT skills, including competent level of AutoCAD ability and, preferably, an understanding of 3D computer design

Working hours: 9am-5.30pm, Mon-Fri (37.5 hours), although the nature of the role may mean additional hours or weekend working from time to time to fit in with operational needs
