Join this established Reading team as an Associate or Partner and take the lead in a thriving and expanding office. This is an exciting opportunity for ambitious individuals to develop their careers in a rapidly growing multi-disciplinary environment.
As part of our multidisciplinary consultancy, the successful Associate Structural Engineer Or Partner will be part of a team that offers a comprehensive range of design, procurement, coordination, and project management services throughout the entire project life cycle. We handle projects of significant value, providing both full multi-disciplinary services and specialised technical expertise in the UK and beyond.
In this Associate Structural Engineer Or Partner role, you will support the Structural Engineering Team in managing resources and overseeing engineering design and financial management for prestigious projects. You'll cover a wide range of property and construction disciplines, delivering structural engineering services under the guidance of our Discipline Partner.
Key Responsibilities for the Associate Structural Engineer Or Partner:
Lead and develop the team
Manage team finances and resources
Generate new opportunities from new and existing clients
Support colleagues from other disciplines in the Reading office
Supervise Engineers and Cad Technicians
Represent the company in external meetings
Ensure project profitability through cost and budget monitoring
Prepare client and project proposals
Conduct detailed design calculations and drawings
Carry out surveys and provide advice on issues and defects
Visit construction sites to monitor progress and provide guidance
Deliver work within agreed fees
Assist in negotiating fee proposals and additional fees
Build project teams using internal and external resources
Establish design philosophy and fundamentals
Review and comment on reports
Conduct structural surveys and provide written reports
Review and summarise client documentsExperience and Skills Required for the Associate Structural Engineer Or Partner:
Excellent written and spoken English communication skills
Significant design experience
Ideally Chartered
Relevant engineering degree qualification
Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in a private practice
Project experience throughout the RIBA plan of work
Proficiency in SCIA, Tekla, TEDDS, and other software
Leadership experience in managing engineers and technicians
Competence in structural steelwork, reinforced concrete, masonry, and timber design
Experience in refurbishment, change of use, and new build projects
Familiarity with various forms of building construction
Proficiency in analysis and design software (TEDDS, TSD, etc.)
Current UK driving license
