Excellent opportunity at an expanding, medium-sized Environmental Consultancy who have a requirement for the position of Associate Geo-Environmental Engineer in Portsmouth.

Our client is truly collaborative multi-disciplinary Consultancy providing technical expertise and innovative solutions. With offices throughout the UK, they operate nationally, providing a professional, responsible and quality driven multi-disciplinary consultancy service to the development, construction, infrastructure and transport sectors.
Their Geo-Environmental and Environmental Planning Services team is looking for a talented Associate/Associate Director to join them in delivering an increasing project portfolio across the UK and across all sectors of operation.
You will be joining at an exciting stage in their expansion, to assist in the development of a team that provides high quality geo-environmental and pre-planning advice across a range of sectors including residential, commercial, rail, highways and other emerging areas of operation.
You will have a high level of technical competence, over 10 years of background in project management, line management and business development duties, and ideally hold chartered status with an appropriate professional body.

Responsibilities
Management & Leadership:
- Taking a leading role in the growth and sustainable development.
- Developing and maintaining a reactive and value for money focused team.
- Responsible for the line management and mentoring.
- Managing resources for project delivery.
- Mentoring of junior staff - including towards chartered status.
- Recruitment - job descriptions, interviewing and candidate selection.
Commercial Management:
- Managing and input into financial budgets.
- Managing of fee forecasting.
- Production of monthly Board Reports.
- Contributing to/producing fee proposals and tender submissions.
Business Development:
- Close support to Directors, Technical Director and other Associates.
- Project-winning promotion of company capability and experience.
- Developing, maintaining and sustaining client relationships via project success, client meetings and engagement.
- Actively developing and maintaining a network of new contacts including attendance at networking events.
- Encouraging and promoting our Social Media, advertising campaigns and other marketing activities.
- Promoting and developing BD activities within the team and company.
Technical and Operational Leadership:
- Quality Control of high-quality Geo-Environmental assessments and interpretations or other assessments including an awareness of other disciplines (i.e. Noise Impact Assessments, Air Quality Assessments).
- Overseeing the production of well-presented and accurate reports and provision of detailed technical review of deliverables produced by others.
- Safety leadership including discharging duties in accordance with CDM Regulations.
- Quality and Environmental leadership including continuous improvement in line with our ISO Integrated Management System.
- Directing the input to projects - including the development of work scopes , delivery to budget and programme requirements.
- Reviewing of risk assessments, interpretive reports, options appraisals, tender documents and specifications and other deliverables as required.
- Presenting and communicating the results of company work to colleagues and clients.
- Ensuring that health and safety issues are identified and addressed throughout the life of a project in compliance with company policies and procedures.

Requirements
- Evidence of continuing professional development, ideally Chartered or working towards Chartership.
- Good working knowledge of NEC3 and/or other types of Contract and capable of reviewing sub-contract agreements.
- Proven ability to review high quality technical reports and manage this process;
- Demonstrable project management experience.
- Excellent commercial management of projects and budgets.
- Willing to work across the company operational geographical areas as required; and Enthusiastic, self-motivated and ambitious.
- Strong leadership qualities, including the ability to mentor and develop staff.

Qualifications
- 8 years + background in Project Management.
- Eligible to work in the UK.
- A full UK driving license.
- Relevant technical degree e.g. chemistry, engineering, geology, environmental science or other appropriate qualification.
- A higher degree in contaminated land, hydrogeology, geotechnical engineering or similar is desirable.
