Company details:
My client is a well-established structural/civil engineering consulting firm based in the North East of England. They are 20 people strong, having a good mix of engineers and technical staff. Their office is based in Newcastle and they have good transport links to and from it.
This is a great opportunity for a fresh graduate or someone early in their engineering career to get the support, guidance and mentorship required at the beginning of your career. This experience should put you on the right path to chartership over the coming years
Person specifications:
Hold a BEng/ Meng in Civil/Structural Engineering
Commitment to personal development and training.
Actively training towards chartered membership of a professional institution.
Projects:
Their projects are predominantly based in the North East, in and around Leeds as well as London.
Working across all sectors they have in depth experience in:
Reinforced concrete design and detailing
Steelwork design
Masonry design
Timber design
Retaining walls
All types of foundations
Heritage and refurbishment work
Structural surveys and reports
Specialist structural design - sculpture foundations, integrate extensions
Working to BIM level 2 requirements
Current projects include:
School refurbs and newbuilt warehouse
Large data centre
They also have an ongoing relationship with a number of contractors large and small undertaking temporary works designs, as well as independent third party design checks on designs prepared by others.
Some examples of temporary works designs and design checks that have been completed are:
Shoring to deep excavations
Temporary support of boundary walls
Piling platform
Crane lifting pads
Tower crane bases
Designed scaffolding
Propping to load bearing walls
Working hours:
Flexi work - core 37.5h - core hours between 9-12 and 2-4
Overtime: available - extra day holiday each month
Job responsibilities:
To carry out structural design work and site visits as required working under senior engineers
Analysis and design of structural elements and building structures using FEA software and hand calculations
Use of AutoCAD and Revit for structural draughting purposes
Design of structures in RC, steel, masonry, timber etc
liaising with client, cad technicians/ other design engineers both internally and externally
Salary and benefits:
This company has a contributory pension scheme that you will be automatically enrolled into upon commencement of employment.
Pension contributions are set at 5% employee and 3% employer.
They have a private medical insurance scheme running that you will be entitled to join
