Geotechnical Engineer

Fantastic opportunity at a busy and successful, medium-sized Contractor who are looking to fill the position of Geotechnical Engineer, based in Reading.

Overview

Our client is a leader in the field of ground investigation, providing site investigation services on a national scale. Their highly qualified, experienced staff deliver an efficient and flexible service which can be tailored to clients' needs. They also provide insitu site testing services for earthworks design and validation, as well as post fieldwork monitoring, and work closely with clients to provide solutions for all aspects of foundation design, earthworks design, soil mechanics, highways and drainage design parameters, and slope stability assessment.

The role includes assisting and implementing the organisation of projects in the field as well as the office, providing input as directed into the planning aspects to the project. Key division of time spent on each part of the job will be set on an annual basis and reviewed regularly.

Responsibilities

- Accountable for field-based logistics including ensuring that the correct equipment is used and maintained on site.

- Execution of ground investigations.

- Contract management on site to including delivery of projects on time and to maximize profits from each contract.

- Contribute expertise and provide input into the siteworks of new projects.

- Prepare and deliver technical reports.

- Execution of ground investigations.

- Maintain an effective line of communication between site and the office.

- Build effective working relationships with other technical specialists within the company.

- Contribute to and support management plans to enhance company performance and profitability.

- Support the maintenance of the quality, environmental and health and safety accreditations.

- Ensure Electronic Access to all relevant projects is kept up to date.

- Ensure update of Contract Delivery Key Performance Indicators.

- Assist the project managers in monitoring contractual and assurance performance.

- Keep abreast of key economic factors, technological advances and political change that may affect the geo-environmental industry.

- Apply rigorous commercial and business thinking to decision making in order to generate value.

- Liaison with site and office on contractual issues.

- Organisation and supervision of site work.

- Technical report writing.

Requirements

- BSc (MSc preferable).

- Minimum 2 years of relevant industry background.

- Full, clean driving licence.

On offer

- Salary £25,000 - £27,000.
