JOB OVERVIEW

BG&Eis recruiting an engineer to join our Civil Engineering Team in the London office.

You will contribute to projects in various sectors (infrastructure, industrial, property) at different stages (concept design, detail design and construction). Some of the projects on which the team is currently working include the HS2, Data Centres in Europe and UK, a battery energy storage system (BESS) in Scotland, a commercial-residential scheme in New Malden, a Palace in the Middle East and some large infrastructure projects in Australia.

We are looking for an individual with a strong base of technical skills, the ability to use a range of design software and excellent organisational and communications skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Civil Engineer, you will work within project teams contributing to delivering effective and professional services. Key responsibilities include:

·Understanding the project requirements and scope of work;

·Understanding the engineering standards that apply to the project;

·Contributing to the production of technical design information, including calculations, specifications and reports;

·Contributing/supporting the production of 3D models and CAD drawings;

·Applying technical design best practices;

·Ensuring that the design output includes the appropriate risk assessment;

·Ensuring design deliverables meet the required standards of accuracy and quality;

·Working in conjunction with multi-disciplinary engineering teams;

·Supporting during construction works through site visits and working with site engineering staff to resolve technical issues;

·Supporting the administration of the projects;

·Adhere to BG&E policies;

Keeping your training log up to date and attending training/ Continued Professional Development (CPD) events when appropriate.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

·Experience in some Civil Engineering projects' technical delivery (earthworks, roads, drainage, flooding);

·Working knowledge Civil 3D, creating infrastructure models;

·Working knowledge of AutoCAD for the production of construction drawings;

·Working knowledge of MS Office package (minimum Word and Excel);

·Knowledge of design standards and codes of practice such as Design and Construction Guidance for foul and surface water sewers, SuDS Manual (C753), the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, and Manual for Streets;

·Ability to work accurately and flexibly and to integrate your work with other discipline areas;

·Ability to work under tight programmes and budget constraints;

·Ability to communicate fluently with other team members;

·Ability to produce reports in clear English;

·Understanding of the CDM Regulations.

Desirable

·Awareness of Section 104, 106, 38 and 278 Agreements;

·Assist in obtaining all necessary approvals from regulatory bodies;

·Experience in model coordination and clash avoidance using Navisworks;

·Experience in using drainage software such as MicroDrainage/InfoDrainage;

·Experience with Autodesk InfraWorks and Vehicle tracking.

·Knowledge/experience of using highway design software packages;

·An understanding of BIM.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

·Qualified to degree level (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering;

·Graduate Member of a relevant professional body such as ICE;

·Working towards achieving CEng or IEng qualification.

Desirable

·Qualifications in use of CAD / Design software packages.
