Senior/Structural Engineer (HTF)
Delon Hampton & Associates, Chartered a minority-owned, professional consulting engineering services firm headquartered in Washington, DC, currently has an excellent opportunity for a talented and energetic, Senior/Structural Engineer.
DHA is seeking a senior structural engineer with 8 - 30 years of experience and a structural engineer with 1 to 5 years of experience. Candidates will work on high visibility and interesting structural engineering projects along with special assignments. Both candidates would be joining a company that supports community service, involvement in professional organizations and professional development. A limited work from home hybrid schedule is offered for these positions.
Responsibilities for Both Positions
- Prepare and/or assist in reviewing project specifications for assigned projects;
- Conduct quality control reviews to ensure design calculations and structural drawings are complete, coordinated, follow the office's standards and have a high level of quality;
- Contribute to RFP bridging documents;
- Review structural submittals designed by others on behalf of the client;
- Communicate with client and consultants to understand project requirements; and
- Plan and organize to meet project requirements and schedules.
Qualifications for Senior Structural Engineer
- A bachelor's degree in civil or architectural engineering with a focus on structures from an accredited university;
- A PE or SE certification is required;
- Eight (8) to thirty (30) years of relevant experience in structural design of below ground and infrastructure projects using concrete and steel is required;
- Candidate shall have a working knowledge and clear understanding of tunnels and shafts;
- Must have experience with shafts buildings with underground parking garages or other underground structures built with slurry walls, secant piles or other comparable support of excavation;
- Knowledge of appropriate structural engineering design software is required (e.g., RAM, ETABS, RISA, SAP, etc.);
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and REVIT is preferred;
- Excellent written, oral, and verbal communication skills is required;
- Highly motivated and responsible individual with timeliness and a strong work ethic; and
- Flexibility in supporting multiple assignments concurrently.
Qualifications for Structural Engineer
- A bachelor's degree in civil or architectural engineering with a focus on structures from an accredited university;
- EIT/FE certification is required with a goal of obtaining PE or SE certification;
- One (1) to five (5) years of relevant experience in structural design of projects using concrete and steel is required;
- Experience with shafts, tunnels, underground structures, and/or support of excavation structures is preferred;
- Working knowledge of structural engineering design software is required (e.g., RAM, ETABS, RISA, SAP, etc.);
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and REVIT is preferred;
- Excellent written, oral, verbal communications skills are required;
- Highly motivated and responsible individual with timeliness and a strong work ethic; and
- Flexibility to support multiple assignments concurrently.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed within a general office environment 90% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Field work may be required 10% of the time where work may be conducted outside in one or more of the following conditions: heat or cold, wet or humid, and dry or arid. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs.) may be required as needed.
