The Opportunity
Our West Energy, Water and Resources group are looking to support our current key clients and expand our capabilities UK wide by strengthening our Civil non-infra capabilities. Our mission is to deliver an outstanding service and add value to our clients' businesses; the successful applicant will play a key role in leading and managing a diverse range of interesting multi-disciplinary projects within our major client portfolios.
As a Principal Engineer within our established and friendly team you will be responsible for small to medium sized teams and projects, bringing long term benefit to stakeholders. Key responsibilities will include acting as a lead civil and lead design engineer. If you also wish to develop as a project manager, responsibilities will also include acting as key contact with the client for project delivery, project team management, programme, commercial and risk management.
A typical day will be varied and fulfilling. Our current key clients include Welsh Water, Thames Water and Severn Trent Water and we are actively bidding for SROs and wider AMP8 opportunities across the UK. Arup have a key focus on people, excellence, influence, digital and sustainability and you will be expected to play your part in progressing all these areas.
Career development is taken very seriously, and you will work towards leading larger projects and teams, developing your skills in a technical and / or managerial capacity to develop your expertise in an area of your choosing.

- Proven experience delivering high quality civil engineering designs for a water company and / or contractor clients.
- Desire and ability to build and maintain strong, long-term relationships within Arup and with our clients.

- Curiosity with a focus on continual improvement and delivering sustainable and value led project outcomes.
