Nature of Work

The Design Engineer is a professional level position responsible for engineering work related to the planning, design, and construction of Public Works programs and capital improvement projects. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: conducting complex engineering calculations to evaluate grading and drainage plans for private development and City-Owner contract agreements; prepare and provide oversight of construction plans and specifications for capital improvement projects; coordinate the City's pavement management program; maintain engineering standards and standard detail plates; and provide engineering support and analysis for Public Works programs and projects. This position will collaborate with other city departments and divisions and represent the City positively in relationships with developers, consultants, citizens and other agencies.  While primarily in the office, the Design Engineer will conduct site inspections and reviews.  

Starting salary is $89,241 to $104,989, with advancement to $131,238.
