Senior Project Engineer - Electrical - Energy Storage

Looking for a Electrical Project Energy for design/build/own/operate - energy storage projects across the country, position is remote but will need to visit site around once a month minimum so all candidates but be in the UK & already have right to remain & work long term

Key Responsibilities

Our mission is constructing assets. This role is right at the heart of that mission. We're seeking a dynamic individual to manage engineering activities during pre-construction and construction phases. Key responsibilities include:

Managing pre-construction engineering activities (following project development)

Preparation and continuous improvement of key project technical documentation (e.g. interface matrix, specifications, employers requirements).
Preparation and continuous improvement of technical schedules as part of the tender process (working closely with the procurement team).
Technical evaluation of sites via site visits and 3rd party site investigations (including for potential acquisition opportunities)
Lead the technical due diligence process required for lender/investor approval.
Technical evaluation of tender responses, meticulously assessing contract proposals.
Engagement with our in-house design team to ensure we have accurate, coordinated and compliant design drawings / SLD's.
Risk assessing design from a health & safety perspective.
Coordinate with external consultants and manage scope, time and budget.
Drive engineering/design optimisations through pre-construction and procurement
Coordinate with the grid development team and become the key interface with DNO/TO through the delivery phase.

Managing construction engineering activities (up to commercial operations)

Analysis and evaluation of detailed design submissions from contractors.
Drive the HAZID/HAZOP process with our contractors (with support form our Quality, Health, Safety & Environment Manager)
Ensure technical RFI's from our contractors are closed swiftly and accurately.
Oversee quality management during manufacturing, FAT, delivery and site works.
Be the technical authority for the construction phase, ensuring our contractors meet our employers requirements (e.g. issuing and following quality plans, inspection and test plans, site inspections, etc.).
Lead the testing and commissioning phase of our projects. Coordinating internal teams and contractors to safely energise, commission and handover our assets to Asset Operations.
Assist the Project Manager with inputs to project schedule, risk register and budget.
Evaluate O&M documentation submitted by our contractors.

Essential Skills

Engineering or industry experience in a technical role
Experience working on contracts for energy projects (batteries, onshore or offshore wind, solar, peaking plants, interconnectors/HVDC, thermal power generation, DNO/TNO projects)
Good commercial mind and an understanding of project management deliverables
Sound understanding of project health and safety requirements, including CDM
Pragmatic and proactive approach to quality management

Helpful Skills (not essential)

Electrical Engineering background
Instrumentation and Control Engineering background
Specific experience of BESS projects
Experience of technical due-diligence to meet project-finance requirement
