OVERVIEW

The School of Engineering at the University of St. Thomas invites applications for a Civil Engineering tenure track (open rank) or clinical (non-tenure track) faculty position to begin in Fall 2024.

 

This is an exciting time for growth in the Civil Engineering program at St Thomas.  In spring 2024, we will move into the new $110M Schoenecker Center with state-of-the-art engineering labs including the 5,000 SF structural engineering high bay, as well as new water resources, construction materials testing, environmental engineering, rapid prototyping, and CAD modeling, labs.  As a student-focused institution with a strong hands-on curriculum, we emphasize undergraduate and graduate education that provides technical excellence with a significant emphasis on real world applications.  We are seeking candidates with a passion for teaching and research and an entrepreneurial spirit that matches our organization’s vision for excellence in engineering education.  St. Thomas’ location in the vibrant metro-area community of Minneapolis-St Paul provides for an outstanding balance of life and work.

 

Candidates with excellence in any area of Civil Engineering are welcome, specifically those with broad teaching interests. Professional Engineer (PE) licensure and significant industry experience are also preferred. Successful candidates will be expected to contribute to scholarly teaching of undergraduate and graduate courses and student advising. All applicants must have demonstratable skills necessary for excellence in teaching. The candidate will be expected and encouraged to grow a research program that engages undergraduate students.

QUALIFICATIONS

A PhD (U.S or Foreign equivalent) in Civil Engineering or related discipline is required for tenure track positions or alternatively, ABD will be also considered with clear evidence of PhD completion by the date of appointment.  To be considered for Clinical faculty, candidates must have a masters’ degree (US or Foreign equivalent) in Civil Engineering or a related field with five or more years of civil engineering experience.
