Two Tenure-Track Assistant Professors at the Department of Civil and Urban Engineering, New York University
The Department of Civil and Urban Engineering (CUE) at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions, starting in Fall 2024. The positions are expected to be at the rank of assistant professor, although exceptional candidates at all ranks will be considered.
CONSTRUCTION AUTOMATION: CUE is looking to hire in the area of Construction Automation. CUE has leveraged its long-standing relationships with industry partners and professionals to support its undergraduate and graduate degree programs, and build a strong research program focused currently on construction informatics and automation. Particular interest will be in candidates who work at the frontier of their field towards enhancing the design, construction, delivery, and operation of the infrastructure systems and the built environment through Robotics, Artificial Intelligence(AI), Digital Twins, Sensing, Informatics, Human-technology Collaboration, Safety and Ergonomics, Computational Design, Digital Fabrication, Sustainable and Green Technologies in Construction, and CyberPhysical Systems. Candidates should have a Ph.D. degree in civil, architectural, construction engineering, or a closely related discipline. We seek individuals who have the potential to develop a strong record of scholarship, leadership, curricular innovation, entrepreneurship, and an excellent funding record. You should demonstrate potential for excellence in research, teaching and mentoring. Candidates should have the ability to teach in support of both the undergraduate and graduate curricula. Applicants should clearly articulate how they will develop a robust, externally funded research program, their work will achieve synergy with existing construction faculty research areas, and they will create opportunities with existing centers of research at NYU (e.g., C2SMART, CUSP, Robotics, etc.). Please submit all application materials electronically through Interfolio: http://apply.interfolio.com/132527
ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING: CUE is looking to hire an Environmental Engineering professor with expertise in the design of innovative physical-chemical processes for the treatment or reuse of water and/or wastewater, the fate of emerging contaminants in natural and engineered systems, environmental analytical chemistry, resource recovery from wastewater or other waste streams, or related fields. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree in Environmental Engineering, or a closely related discipline. We seek individuals who have, or have the potential to develop, a strong record of scholarship, mentoring, leadership, teaching and curricular innovation. Candidates will contribute to the expansion of the environmental engineering program at NYU Tandon, as well as the school-wide Sustainable Engineering Initiative, which aims to develop engineering solutions to avoid, mitigate, and remediate emissions responsible for climate change and environmental contamination, as well as adapt to these environmental challenges, through research, education, and knowledge transfer.
