The City of Bell is seeking a dynamic leader to fill the role of Director of Public Works. Operating under a City Charter framework, the City of Bell’s workforce is committed to enhancing the quality of life for all residents. As the Director of Public Works, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the city's infrastructure and services. Reporting directly to the City Manager, this working management position involves a range of responsibilities, from strategic leadership and project management to budget oversight, contract administration, and personnel management. You'll also be engaged in community outreach, grant pursuit, and policy development, as well as developing and mentoring staff to promote individual and professional growth. This is an incredible opportunity to strategize and build a new department, foster its culture, and leave a lasting legacy at the City of Bell and in the community for many years to come.
We're looking for a visionary leader with a proven track record in municipal public works. The ideal candidate possesses strategic thinking, a high level of proficiency in engineering principles and practices, project management expertise, and innovative problem-solving skills. A solid grasp of public sector requirements and a familiarity with state public works regulations, management, and public relations would be highly beneficial. A management approach that promotes fairness and positivity, along with a strong dedication to compliance and protocol, is vital to success.
